Botox & Fillers Q & A

How does Botox work?

Botox Cosmetic injections are prescription medications that relax facial muscles to smooth skin and minimize the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Botox is commonly used to treat frown lines between your eyebrows and crow’s feet around your eyes. Dr. Verma, a board-certified internal medicine physician administers all Botox injections at Lifestyle Physicians, so you are assured that you’re receiving the treatments in an environment upholding the highest professional standards.

Dr. Verma injects the Botox solution into the muscles of your forehead, around your eyes, or wherever you want to minimize lines. Men and women usually see the positive effects of a Botox treatment three to seven days after the procedure. The injections are typically painless, and the results last from three to four months.* To maintain your desired appearance, Dr. Verma may recommend additional treatments every few months.

How do facial fillers work?

Like Botox, fillers are a type of nonsurgical cosmetic treatment that smooth wrinkles. Dermal fillers are commonly used around your mouth and nose to minimize the appearance of laugh lines and vertical lip lines that often come with age. The experienced medical professionals at Lifestyle Physicians offer Juvéderm® and Restylane® dermal fillers.

Juvéderm is a smooth gel made from a substance that occurs naturally in skin. It fills in and plumps up lines in your skin, typically around your mouth and nose. Restylane is a gel made of hyaluronic acid, also something your body produces naturally. Restylane is similar to Juvéderm in application and can also be used for lip enhancement in men or women over 21.

Dr. Verma injects these gels just under the surface of your skin to smooth away wrinkles. Cosmetic fillers like Juvéderm and Restylane provide a relatively pain-free, quick, and subtle transformation for a younger appearance. Although the results are temporary, Restylane treatments can potentially last up to 18 months.*
